The Cemetery of Anchors is an underwater archaeological site in Angra do Heroísmo Bay containing around 40 anchors resting on the seabed at depths between 22 and 32 meters. These artifacts span from the 16th century to modern times, creating a submerged collection of maritime equipment from different eras.

The anchors were lost by sailors from the 16th to 20th centuries during winter storms as ships sought shelter in these waters around Terceira Island. Approximately 74 recorded shipwrecks in this region illustrate the treacherous nature of this sea route in earlier times.

The site reflects the deep connection between the local community and the sea, with anchors serving as reminders of centuries-old maritime traditions in Angra. These sunken objects tell stories of the harbor's role as a crucial stopping point for vessels passing through the Atlantic.
