Praia da Granja, Blue Flag beach in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal
The beach extends along the Atlantic coast with fine sand that transitions into rocky foreshore during low tide near São Félix da Marinha.
The area originated from a Bishop Farm established in 1758, where Crúzios Monks and Priests spent time for rest during summer periods.
During the late 19th century, this coastal area attracted Portuguese nobility and writers including Ramalho Ortigão and Eça de Queirós.
The beach provides disability access, lifeguard supervision during summer, and facilities including showers, toilets, sunbeds, and parasol rentals.
The Portuguese poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen spent her summers in a family mansion located directly by the beach.
