The Capela do Senhor da Pedra rises from a rock formation directly on the beach, featuring baroque and rococo gilded wood altarpieces and blue monochromatic tile panels.
Construction of the chapel began in 1686 on a former pagan worship site, where ancient civilizations performed rituals before the area converted to Christianity.
The annual pilgrimage takes place during Trinity Sunday and continues until the following Tuesday, bringing together numerous devotees from the surrounding communities.
The chapel welcomes visitors daily between 14:00 and 18:00, though the structure does not provide wheelchair access due to its location on coastal rocks.
Local fishermen use the chapel as a navigation reference point, while ancient residents believe the Christ image arrived by sea onto the rock.
