Jardim Constantino, Neighborhood garden in Arroios, Lisbon, Portugal.
Jardim Constantino is a public garden in the Arroios neighborhood with circular tree beds, rectangular plant arrangements, and traditional Portuguese cobblestone pathways. The grounds include public restrooms, a children's playground, and a kiosk with outdoor seating for refreshments.
The garden was established in 1889 and named after Constantino José Marques de Sampaio e Melo, a 19th-century artificial flower producer known as the King of Florists. Its creation reflects the prosperous traditions of the neighborhood during that period.
Art Nouveau tile patterns decorate the pathways throughout the garden, creating visual interest at ground level. A statue of Prometheus stands within the flowerbeds as a focal point for visitors.
The garden is easily walkable with level ground throughout, making it accessible for all visitors. It is best visited during quieter afternoon hours when you can enjoy the space at a leisurely pace.
The garden contains the only Melaleuca styphelioides tree in Lisbon, classified as a Public Interest Tree. An Australian fig tree also grows here with the same special designation.
