Jardim Teófilo Braga

The Jardim da Parada is a public garden in the Campo de Ourique neighborhood featuring spaces for relaxation and play. A central lake, a bandstand, a children's area, and restroom facilities form the main elements of this green space.

The site began as a military parade ground before being transformed into a public green space. This conversion reflects how the neighborhood evolved and adapted its spaces for community use.

A bronze statue of Maria da Fonte from 1920 stands in the garden as a tribute to this historical figure. A memorial to professor António Augusto Ferreira de Macedo also marks the importance of local personalities within this green space.

The garden is easy to access and provides ample space for walking and sitting. Several heritage trees, including bald cypress and sequoia specimens, offer natural shade and green cover throughout the area.

A recycled telephone booth along Rua Almeida e Sousa now serves as a public reading library for locals. This small repurposed space shows how creative community projects bring new uses to old structures.
