Praia do Amado

Praia do Amado is a beach with golden sand located in Costa Vicentina Natural Park, stretching for about one kilometer. Between red and ochre cliffs, multiple connected bays form a continuous shoreline.

The beach lies within the Costa Vicentina Natural Park, which preserves its natural state and the untouched character of Portugal's western coast. This protected area has prevented major development since its establishment.

This location has become a meeting point for surfers from across Europe, where people gather during the season to share experiences and ride waves together. The surfing culture shapes daily life here, especially when larger swells arrive.

Wooden staircases descend from a hilltop parking area to the beach, where surf schools and equipment rentals operate during the season. It's wise to bring water and food, as facilities nearby are minimal.

The western exposure and Atlantic swells create year-round surfing conditions, making this one of the few spots in the region usable throughout the year. Even in winter, waves arrive regularly when elsewhere on the coast conditions are flat.
