Bordeira's beach, Atlantic coastal beach in Costa Vicentina Natural Park, Portugal
Bordeira's beach is a stretch of Atlantic coastline with soft sand, towering limestone cliffs, and expansive dunes rising behind the waterline. The shoreline extends several kilometers and features both rough surf zones and sheltered areas depending on where you choose to enter the water.
The beach was long a remote spot used mainly by fishermen and naturist visitors. Over time it became known to Portuguese families and surfers drawn to the rough Atlantic waters.
The Carrapateira Sea and Land Museum near the beach displays photographs and exhibits about marine life and regional traditions.
Wooden pathways from clifftop parking areas guide you safely down to the beach, with two separate access points available. The southern part offers calmer water for swimming, while the northern section experiences stronger waves favoring more experienced water users.
A river forms a natural lagoon at the southern end, creating calm pools ideal for young swimmers. This shared environment allows surfers to enjoy powerful waves nearby while others relax in shallow water.
