The black volcanic sand beach extends along Madeira's eastern coastline with steep cliffs surrounding the swimming area by the Atlantic Ocean waters.

Visitors can access changing rooms, sun loungers, and parking facilities, while the Muralha's Bar serves regional food at Rua da Pedra d'Eira.

The dark sand creates a stark contrast with the surrounding brownish landscape, differing from the typical green vegetation found across Madeira island.
