Parque da Cidade do Porto, Urban park in Aldoar, Porto, Portugal.
Parque da Cidade do Porto is an urban park in Aldoar, Foz do Douro e Nevogilde, Porto, Portugal, featuring wide lawns, several lakes, and pathways reaching toward the Atlantic. The grounds include playgrounds, sports facilities, and shaded areas beneath pine and eucalyptus trees.
Planning started in the late 1980s under landscape architect Sidónio Pardal, with work beginning in 1991. The park opened officially to visitors in 1993, connecting urban greenery with the coastline.
The name honors Porto itself, meaning literally the Park of the City of Porto. Locals often use the short form Parque da Cidade when meeting friends for a jog or a weekend walk along the waterfront.
Access is through several entrances, with the main one on Avenida da Boavista offering parking spaces. Pathways work well for strollers and wheelchairs, especially the flat sections near the lakes.
The Water Pavilion was relocated from Lisbon's Expo 98 and now serves as an interactive science center. Visitors can try hands-on experiments related to water resources and technology.
