Colégio de Santa Doroteia

Colégio de Santa Doroteia is a private school in Lumiar comprising multiple buildings spread across its grounds. The institution provides education to students from elementary through secondary levels.

The Doroteia Sisters acquired the Quinta das Calvanas property in 1935 and founded the school there. The Ministry of Education granted official recognition to the institution in 1937.

The school maintains a music education tradition featuring piano, flute, and guitar instruction as part of its regular program. These lessons sit alongside contemporary dance and theater activities that shape student life.

The campus includes a sports pavilion built in 1992 that supports physical education and extracurricular athletic programs. Visitors should keep in mind that this is an active school facility and access may be limited to specific times.

The school transformed from an all-female boarding institution to a coeducational day school in 1976. This shift marked a fundamental change in how the school operated and who it served.
