The sanctuary measures 29 meters in length, 10.80 meters in width, and 14 meters in height, featuring a main arch illuminated by multiple windows.
The construction of the present chapel began in the first half of the 19th century and reached completion on September 6, 1900, under Father António Lourenço Vasco.
The pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda occurs in September and stands as the largest religious gathering in the Diocese of Guarda.
The sanctuary remains accessible throughout the day, welcoming approximately twenty thousand pilgrims during the annual celebrations from September 5th to 9th.
The bell from the original hermitage dates back to 1390 and contained inscriptions with the words Jesus and Maria engraved on its surface.
