Chalet da Condessa de Edla, Alpine-style chalet in Pena Park, Sintra, Portugal.

The Chalet da Condessa de Edla features cork-lined walls, painted decorations, and detailed woodwork across its two-story alpine architecture in western Pena Park.

Constructed between 1864 and 1869, King Fernando II commissioned this residence for his second wife Elise Hensler, who later became Countess of Edla.

The chalet merges Swiss architectural elements with Portuguese materials, incorporating local cork and ceramics throughout its distinctive design.

Visitors can access the chalet through a combined ticket with Pena Palace, with opening hours from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM daily.

The exterior walls display decorative patterns created with cork bark pieces, forming geometric shapes that integrate with the surrounding garden landscape.
