Galapinhos beach

Galapinhos is a sand beach located within the Arrábida Natural Park where fine light-colored sand meets turquoise Atlantic waters and green mountain slopes frame the cove. The beach remains relatively small and sheltered, with calm water protected by surrounding rock formations.

The Arrábida Natural Park, which encompasses this beach, received protected status in 1976 to safeguard the coastal ecosystem. This designation helped preserve the area and its distinctive features for future generations.

The beach serves as a meeting place where people come to enjoy the natural setting and spend unhurried time by the water. Locals and visitors use this spot to swim, relax, and take in the views of the mountain slopes rising behind the shore.

Access requires either a steep walk down from the parking area or climbing over rocks from the neighboring beach. It is wise to wear sturdy shoes and be aware of tides if approaching via the rocky route.

The beach was named Europe's best beach in 2017 by the European Best Destinations portal based on public voting. This recognition highlights how visitors from across the continent have responded to the natural appeal of the location.
