The beach area contains remnants of ancient Roman settlements, reflecting the maritime activities that occurred along this coastline during the classical period.
Local fishermen maintain traditional fishing practices near the beach, particularly focusing on squid catches that gave the beach its Portuguese name.
The beach provides supervised swimming areas from June 15 to September 15, with designated zones for water activities and convenient wooden walkway access.
Four natural sandbanks located 600 meters offshore create a protective barrier that maintains consistently calm swimming conditions throughout the year.
