Al Bayt is a large sports arena in Al Khor featuring a movable roof structure that opens and closes when needed. The facility includes several tiers, wide stairways, and access routes leading to the seating rows.
Construction began in 2015 and finished six years later, ready for the 2022 World Cup. The site was developed specifically for that tournament and has since evolved into a multipurpose venue.
The outer shell uses colors and shapes from the tents that nomads have carried across the desert for centuries. Inside, visitors find spaces that recall traditional hospitality, with lounges and areas for families.
The grounds offer ample parking and are served by shuttle buses from the nearest metro station. Visitors should allow extra time for travel, as the venue sits outside the city center.
After the World Cup, capacity was significantly reduced, and the freed space now houses a hotel and shops. This transformation turned the venue into a place with several uses, where sport, lodging, and shopping meet.
