Port of Mangalia, Maritime port in Mangalia, Romania
Port of Mangalia is a maritime facility on the Black Sea coast with four berths stretching 540 meters in total length. The site covers roughly 142 hectares and serves vessel movements along the southern Romanian shoreline.
The area functioned as a trade hub in ancient times, linking merchant routes across the Black Sea region. It remained a stopping point for vessels traveling along this coastline throughout the following centuries.
Maritime traditions shape the local community through regular celebrations that highlight seafaring heritage and connect generations of port workers and sailors.
The facility maintains a maximum depth of 9 meters (about 30 feet) and requires pilot services for all vessel movements. Requests must be submitted at least two hours before any ship enters or leaves the port.
The port operates specialized cargo cranes including one with 120-ton capacity and three with 50-ton capacity for loading and unloading operations. These machines work at Romania's southernmost port facility, positioned near the border with Bulgaria.
