Bálványos Castle

Bálványos Castle is a medieval fortification built on a steep hilltop at 1,056 meters (3,468 feet) elevation where two mountain ranges meet in Covasna County. The stone ruins sit within a protected natural area near Turia.

The castle was founded during King Stephen I's reign and served the Apor family as a stronghold until the 17th century. The structure became an important defense point for the region during the medieval period.

The name comes from Hungarian and reflects customs rooted in the region's past. Visitors walking through the ruins can sense this connection to the place's heritage today.
