Ion Creangă Memorial House, Humu

The Ion Creangă Memorial House in Humulești is a small 19th-century building with two low rooms, a covered veranda and an inner courtyard. The garden behind the house displays traditional tools and household items from the period.

Petre Ciubotariu built the house between 1830 and 1831 as a dwelling for his family. Ion Creangă was born here and spent his childhood until the mid-1840s under this roof.

The writer's surname means fir tree in Romanian, a species common in the Carpathians that appears often in his tales. The exhibition presents handwritten letters and postcards that visitors can view directly today.

The museum sits in a quiet village and can be reached by car or public transport from Iași. Opening hours vary with the season, so a phone call or online check before visiting is worthwhile.

A theme park next to the building displays characters from the author's children's stories through life-size installations and interactive stations. Children can recognize the fairy-tale figures and engage with them in playful ways.
