Ciucaş Fall, Mountain waterfall in Cluj County, Romania
Ciucaş Fall is a waterfall in the Hășdatelor Gorge that flows over limestone rocks in a series of natural steps. The water drops about 5 meters vertically and collects in a pool at the base of the cascade.
The Hășdate River carved through limestone layers over thousands of years, creating the gorge and the waterfall as it exists today. The erosion process shaped the natural steps and cascading pattern that characterize this location.
Local residents gather at the waterfall during summer festivals to share stories and celebrate traditional Romanian customs in the natural setting.
The path to the waterfall starts in Corneşti village and follows marked trails through the gorge. Water flow is strongest during spring and early summer when snowmelt feeds the river.
At the base of the waterfall, flowing water has carved a natural stone pool with a circular shape resembling a natural bath. The current creates swirling patterns within it that shift constantly.
