Glódi-szoros is a nature reserve stretching through the Ardeului Valley with limestone rocks displaying shades of gray, green, purple, and yellow. The gorge cuts through these formations creating narrow passages and wider sections with towering cliff faces.
The area received official protection status in 2000 for its geological formations dating to the Upper Jurassic period. This designation recognized the rarity and scientific value of the rock formations found here.
Wooden churches from different centuries stand in nearby villages like Vălișoara and Poiana, reflecting the spiritual life of the surrounding communities. Today visitors can observe how these structures remain central to the villages and shape the landscape.
The hiking route through the gorge takes about three to four hours round trip with some sections requiring you to wade through water. Sturdy footwear with good traction is essential, and carrying minimal gear makes the walk easier.
Natural springs emerge from the ground in several places throughout the site, providing fresh water year-round. The narrow passage called La Strâmtură offers especially clear views of the layered rock formations.
