Ruginoasa Palace, Iași, Historic palace in Ruginoasa, Romania
Ruginoasa Palace is a neogothic structure in eastern Romania with a square layout and deep porches on all four sides. Stone-supported balconies frame each facade, creating a symmetrical appearance around the building.
The palace was built in 1804 for the Sturdza family and later served as the summer residence of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the first ruler of united Romanian principalities. This connection marks it as a site of major political importance in Romanian history.
The palace reveals how Romanian nobility lived during the 19th century through its furnished rooms and personal belongings displayed inside. Walking through these spaces gives visitors a direct sense of the aristocratic daily life from that period.
The interior is open to visitors with multiple exhibition rooms showing different period styles and furnishings. Information displays throughout the rooms help explain the history and living conditions of the families who occupied it.
A chapel beside the main building preserves its original neoclassical style with Ionic columns at the entrance. Built in 1811, this small house of worship reveals details about what the family valued.
