Palace of Culture in Ploiești

The Palace of Culture features a central structure with two primary wings, displaying French neoclassical architecture with symmetrical proportions and balanced design elements.

Construction of the palace began in 1906, paused during World War I, resumed in 1924 under architect Toma T. Socolescu, and concluded with inauguration by King Carol II in 1933.

The building houses the Nicolae Iorga County Library, Prahova County Museum of Natural Sciences, and the Prahova County Cultural Center within its grand halls.

Visitors can access the palace through its main entrance on the south side, reaching the first floor via a wide staircase flanked by massive columns.

The first floor contains a large naturally lit hall, formerly known as the Hall of Lost Steps, which now functions as the primary exhibition space in Ploiești.
