Hanul Ancuței

Hanul Ancuței is a historic inn in Neamț County, built along European route E85 with thick brick walls and traditional wooden trim. Inside, there are several guest rooms, a dining hall, and sections that once served as stables.

The inn was built in 1718 as a postal station and trading post where important routes between Roman, Suceava, and Iași crossed. After a fire, the building was reconstructed at the end of the 20th century in its original style.

Travelers from across Romania stop here to try Moldavian dishes, while readers of local literature recognize this spot from stories written by one of the country's best-known authors. The setting recalls the days when merchants and cart drivers paused on long journeys to rest and exchange goods.

The inn sits along a main road and is easy to reach by car, roughly half an hour from the nearest larger town. Visitors find parking available and can both stay overnight and eat at the restaurant.

The walls reach a thickness of 70 centimeters, a construction method that has become rare in the region. Old photographs and tools hang on the walls, showing the earlier life of innkeepers and travelers.
