Devica

Devica is a mountain in Eastern Serbia that rises above forested slopes and open meadows. The peak offers various hiking routes through diverse landscapes, ranging from dense woodland areas to green clearings.

The mountain was the site of early settlements that left traces of various ancient cultures. The area shows remains that document human presence across several historical phases.

Local residents maintain traditional Serbian customs by organizing seasonal festivals at the base of Devica mountain throughout the year.

Hikers reach the mountain via marked trails that depart from the nearby spa town of Soko Banja. The route starts near the Sopur spring and passes through different elevations with varying difficulty levels.

Wild strawberries grow in large numbers in the meadows below the summit, especially during the warmer season. These fruit patches attract foragers and define the character of the mountain grasslands.
