Zrenjanin City Hall, Government building in Freedom Square, Zrenjanin, Serbia

Zrenjanin City Hall is a pale yellow building located on Freedom Square, distinguished by three copper towers and large stained glass windows portraying wisdom, justice, and power. The interior features marble staircases and decorative architectural details throughout its administrative spaces.

Construction took place between 1816 and 1820, following a fire that destroyed the previous county building. Major renovations occurred from 1885 to 1887, modernizing the structure and updating its appearance.

This building anchors Freedom Square as the seat of municipal and district government, serving as a focal point for civic life in the city. Its formal architecture and decorative interior elements reflect the importance placed on administrative institutions during its construction period.

Visitor access is typically available on weekdays during morning hours, with shorter Saturday hours available for viewing the building. Since this is an active administrative building, it's wise to check ahead about current access conditions before planning your visit.

The building was among the first in the southern region to receive electrical lighting and telephone connections as infrastructure developed. Its roof features distinctive Zsolnay tiles, a decorative material that was remarkable for its durability and craftsmanship.
