Lake Bubanj, lake in Serbia
Lake Bubanj is a small body of water in Kragujevac, located about one kilometer from the city center and shaped like a heart. Covering roughly three and a half hectares with an average depth of less than one meter, it offers a safe setting for outdoor activities.
The lake formed in the 1970s when water from a nearby spring called Bubanj and rainwater gradually joined small ponds together. It slowly filled the site of an old brick factory that had closed down.
The name of the lake comes from the nearby Bubanj mosque, one of the oldest and most beautiful landmarks in the old part of Kragujevac. This connection shapes how locals view the area and ties the water to the city's cultural heritage.
The lake sits very close to the city center and is easy to reach on foot, by bike, or by car. Visitors should bring their own equipment since there are no extensive facilities on site, and they will find benches and a natural recreational space.
The lake has an unusual heart shape that sets it apart from other lakes in the area. This distinctive form developed naturally, and the water is home to fish like carp, catfish, and bream that attract fishing enthusiasts.
