Dunđerski Palace

Dunđerski Palace, Neoclassical palace in Čelarevo, Serbia

Dunđerski Palace is a neoclassical residence with symmetrical lines, rows of windows and a prominent central entrance. The building sits within gardens that blend French and English styles, planted with mature elm and oak trees.

Construction took place between 1834 and 1837 under the direction of Hungarian nobleman Nikola Bezeredi. The property changed hands in 1882 when the influential Dunđerski family acquired it, and the building eventually took their name.

The palace displays the domestic life of the 18th and 19th centuries through its collection of furniture and decorative objects. You can see how wealthy families arranged their living spaces and organized their homes during that period.

The palace sits in Čelarevo within extensive garden grounds that provide shade and frame the building's architecture. Visitors should allow time to walk the gardens to fully appreciate the entire estate.

A notable Serbian poet composed one of his celebrated love poems while at the palace, inspired by a meeting that took place here. This literary connection adds a romantic dimension to the residence beyond its architectural features.
