Fernbahov dvorac

Fernbahov dvorac, Vienna Secession castle in Aleksa Šantić, Serbia.

Fernbahov dvorac is a mansion featuring Vienna Secession architecture located near Sombor. The building contains a central hall with marble staircases, a square bell tower, and a semi-circular terrace overlooking a ten-hectare park.

A wealthy grain merchant named Karolj Fernbah commissioned architect Ferenc Rajhel to design and build this residence in 1906. The estate was created as a family home for one of the most influential landowners in the Bačka region.

The chapel on the grounds displays paintings of angels and reflects how wealthy Serbian families designed their private spaces in the early 1900s. These rooms offer visitors a window into the tastes and values of the local nobility at that time.

The building is currently in poor condition and requires extensive restoration work. Visitors should be aware that access may be limited and exterior viewing is recommended due to the structure's fragile state.

The surrounding park originally contained roughly 165 plant species arranged according to English garden design principles. This collection formed one of the largest private botanical gardens in the Vojvodina region.
