Monastère de Lipar

The Saint George monastery sits on Lipar hill, featuring a church constructed in traditional Moravian style with semicircular apses and altar space.

The original monastery from the 16th century was destroyed during Ottoman rule, with the current church structure rebuilt in 1936 on ancient foundations.

Serbian romantic poet Djura Jaksic worked as a teacher in Donja Sabanta village during 1865 and 1866, contributing to the area's literary heritage.

The monastery produces natural remedies, including teas and herbal drops made from garlic, hawthorn, and St. John's wort, available for purchase.

In 2013, the monastery transformed into a women's religious community, where nuns maintain traditional medicinal preparation methods.
