Oktyabrsk, human settlement in Oktyabrsk Urban Okrug, Samara Oblast, Russia
Oktyabrsk is a town in Russia's Samara region, located on the right bank of the Volga River. It has around 20,000 residents and was formed in 1956 by merging three settlements as a railway and highway junction along the M-5 route connecting Moscow and Omsk.
The area saw early settlement by the late 1600s, but the modern town was established in 1956 when three settlements merged. The 1800s brought major development including one of Europe's largest bridges across the Volga and Russia's first asphalt factory, which opened here and gained international recognition for its quality.
The town is well connected by rail and the M-5 highway, with a train station linking it to larger regional centers. Most sights can be explored on foot, especially the Volga waterfront and central streets which offer good viewpoints and rest areas.
