Kerch, Port city in eastern Crimean Peninsula, Ukraine

The city stretches along the western shore of the Kerch Strait, connecting the Black Sea to the Sea of Azov through natural harbors and bays.

Greek settlers established Panticapaeum in the 7th century BC, which developed into the capital of the Bosporan Kingdom and a major Mediterranean trading center.

The Church of St. John the Baptist, constructed in 717 AD, represents one of the earliest examples of Eastern Orthodox architecture in the region.

The Kerch Metallurgical Works and multiple shipyards produce cargo vessels, while the fishing industry maintains a strong presence in the local economy.

The King's Mound, a limestone burial chamber from 4th century BC, features a stepped ceiling design that demonstrates advanced ancient engineering methods.
