Museum of the Great Patriotic War

The Museum of the Great Patriotic War stands on Poklonnaya Hill and displays military equipment, documents, photographs, and personal items across many exhibition halls. The collection covers the war from 1941 to 1945 with objects from daily life and military operations.

The building opened in 1995 to mark the 50th anniversary of Soviet victory and has served as a memorial ever since. The location was chosen specifically to honor the war years from 1941 to 1945.

The museum is open most days of the week, with extended hours on weekends. Plan to spend several hours to explore the large collection spread across its various halls.

The museum features large-scale dioramas that recreate major battles, allowing visitors to step into scenes of warfare. These three-dimensional reconstructions show details of sieges and military crossings that would otherwise be hard to imagine.
