Zagorsk Pumped Storage Station is an energy facility near Sergiyev Posad with six pump-generator units and a total capacity of 1200 megawatts. The machines are connected through large-diameter pipes and work by pumping water uphill at night to release it through turbines during the day.
Construction of this power facility began in 1974, with the first generators starting operation in 1987. The station reached full completion in 2000.
