Shcherbov House, Gatchina

Shcherbov House is a museum housed in a 1911 building with distinctive Northern Art Nouveau architecture, featuring detailed woodwork, large windows, and ornamental decorative details throughout. Inside, exhibitions showcase Russian art history and aviation subjects, with the historic rooms serving as the setting for these collections.

The building was constructed in 1911 to designs by architect S.S. Krichinskiy and became an important cultural site. Following the October Revolution, writer Maxim Gorky intervened to protect it as a residence for artist Pavel Shcherbov.

The house displays works by Pavel Shcherbov, an artist whose drawings and watercolors shaped early 20th century Russian art movements. The rooms give visitors a sense of how an artist lived and worked during this period.

The museum is located on Chekhov Street in Gatchina and operates on specific weekdays, so checking hours in advance is recommended. Visitors enter through the main gate of the property, and exhibition spaces on the ground and upper floors display the collections in restored historic rooms.
