Slobodskoy, Historical settlement in Kirov Oblast, Russia
Slobodskoy stands on the right bank of the Vyatka River, surrounded by dense forests and agricultural lands 35 kilometers northeast of Kirov.
The settlement originated in 1505 as a fortified outpost, later transforming into a significant trading center along routes extending toward Siberia.
The provincial architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries includes brick structures that reflect the urban planning initiatives of Catherine the Great.
The city maintains its position as an administrative center with established educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and transportation connections to neighboring regions.
The original wooden Kremlin contained three churches and housed 154 residences for nearly 600 inhabitants during its early development phase.
