The Moscow Conservatory is an educational institution for music located in central Moscow near several metro stations. The building contains classrooms, rehearsal rooms and two main performance spaces with seating for audiences, spread across several floors behind a facade marked by columns and decorative stonework.
The institution was founded in 1866 by Nikolai and Anton Rubinstein to create formal training for musicians in Russia. Later decades brought expansion of facilities and state recognition during the Soviet era.
Students and faculty members perform regular concerts in the Great Hall and Rachmaninov Hall, presenting classical compositions to Moscow audiences.
