Baksan

The Baksan is a mountain river flowing through the Caucasus region, fed by glaciers near Mount Elbrus and running through Kabardino-Balkaria. The waterway connects multiple tributary systems and serves as a major hydrological feature of the landscape.

The river became a focus for industrial development in the mid-1900s with the construction of a major hydroelectric facility. This project transformed the economic importance of the waterway for the local region.
