Khodynka Field

Khodynka Field is a large area in northwestern Moscow featuring open green spaces, walking paths, and several sports facilities set across the landscape. The site includes the Megasport Arena and CSKA Stadium, which host sporting events and concerts throughout the year.

The site began as a military parade ground before becoming the location of a major tragedy during early coronation celebrations. Following this dark event, the area was gradually transformed into recreational and sporting spaces over the following decades.

The name refers to the old open field that once dominated this area, and today the space draws crowds for sporting events that bring people from across the city together. The arenas here are places where locals gather to watch their teams compete.

The area is easily accessible by public transportation and lies near shopping facilities and other recreational amenities. Visitors will find multiple entry points and well-maintained pathways that make exploring the large grounds straightforward.

The location holds a special connection to early aviation experiments and was once a gathering place for flying pioneers. The open grounds served as a testing site for aircraft development in Russia during the early 1900s.
