Troyekurovskoye cemetery, Cemetery in Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye District, Moscow, Russia.
The cemetery is a burial ground in Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye District, Moscow, Russia, spreading across a wide area. Numerous gravestones and monuments line the paths, while the Church of Saint Nicholas stands on the grounds.
The grounds opened in 1962 and took their name from the Troyekurov princely family of the Rurikid dynasty who owned the village during the 1600s. The church was built between 1699 and 1704 and reopened in 1991 after decades of closure.
Graves of soldiers, writers and actors lie among the paths, while journalist Anna Politkovskaya found her final rest here. Families visit throughout the year, bringing flowers or lighting candles according to Orthodox custom.
Access is through the main paths, and orientation signs help locate specific sections within the grounds. Many memorials are documented with photographs and some with GPS coordinates, making searches easier.
The Church of Saint Nicholas reopened only in 1991 after remaining closed throughout the Soviet period. Its doors stood shut for seven decades until the end of the Soviet Union allowed its reopening.
