Lesnaya, Metro station in Vyborgsky District, Russia
Lesnaya is an underground metro station on Line 1 of Saint Petersburg located roughly 64 meters below ground. It features a central platform design and serves the northern parts of the city.
The station opened on April 22, 1975 as part of the Soviet-era metro network expansion. Service was restored in 2004 following flooding damage to tunnel sections.
The name comes from Lesnoy Prospect and the nearby State Forest Technical University in the area. The green color of the interior design reflects this connection to forestry.
The station is well connected and located near academic institutions and residential neighborhoods. Expect crowds during peak hours when traveling through.
Italian mining technology was used to repair flooded tunnel sections between this station and Ploschad Muzhestva. This innovative approach allowed workers to restore the damaged passages effectively.
