Monument to Nicholas I, Bronze equestrian statue at Saint Isaac's Square, Saint Petersburg, Russia

The Monument to Nicholas I features a six-meter tall bronze statue of the emperor mounted on his horse Amalatbek, standing on an elliptical pedestal.

Inaugurated in 1859, this monument commemorates Emperor Nicholas I who ruled Russia from 1825 to 1855, leading modernization efforts across the Russian Empire.

The pedestal displays four allegorical female figures created by sculptor Robert Zaleman, representing Strength, Wisdom, Justice, and Faith in white Italian marble.

The monument stands between Mariinsky Palace and Saint Isaac's Cathedral, with direct access from Admiralteyskaya metro station through Voznesensky Avenue.

This engineering achievement became the second equestrian statue in Europe supported by just two points, with the horse standing on its rear legs.
