Saint Isaac's Cathedral, Eastern Orthodox church museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia

The cathedral reaches 101.5 meters in height and features a central dome covered in pure gold atop a rectangular structure of granite and marble.

French architect Auguste de Montferrand designed the building in 1818, and construction continued for 40 years until its completion in 1858.

The interior displays extensive religious artworks, including mosaic panels, paintings on the walls and ceiling, and sculptures made from malachite and lapis lazuli.

The museum opens from 10:00 to 18:00 with extended hours until 21:00 from May through September, remaining closed every Wednesday throughout the year.

The cathedral's foundation required 24,000 wooden piles to stabilize the marshy ground, while the central dome structure weighs 300,000 tons.
