Lobanov-Rostovsky Residence
Lobanov-Rostovsky Residence, Neoclassical mansion at Admiralty district, Saint Petersburg, Russia
The Lobanov-Rostovsky Residence features two stone lions flanking the main entrance and stands near Saint Isaac's Cathedral on Admiralty Square.
The mansion was constructed between 1817 and 1820 by architect Francesco Camporesi for Prince Alexander Lobanov-Rostovsky as a private residence.
The mansion appears in Alexander Pushkin's poem The Bronze Horseman, where the protagonist finds refuge on one of the stone lions during the 1824 flood.
The building now functions as a luxury Four Seasons hotel, offering accommodation in a historical setting near major Saint Petersburg attractions.
The basement level of the mansion housed Saint Petersburg's first lithography workshop and several shops during the early 19th century.
