Blue Bridge, Bridge at Isaakievskaya Square, Saint Petersburg, Russia
The Blue Bridge spans the Moika River, forming a connection between Kazansky and Second Admiralteysky Islands in Saint Petersburg's central district.
The original wooden drawbridge, constructed in 1737 by Herman van Boles, received its name from the blue-painted railings that decorated its structure.
The bridge serves as an extension of Isaakievskaya Square, incorporating French-inspired lampposts identical to those found on the Alexander III Bridge in Paris.
The structure measures 97.3 meters in width, accommodating multiple lanes of vehicle traffic and pedestrian paths across the Moika River.
Engineers replaced the upstream section with reinforced concrete in 1929, while maintaining the original cast-iron arch design on the downstream portion.
