TaMtAm

TaMtAm is a music club on Vasilyevsky Island in Saint Petersburg, located inside a former industrial building. The interior feels raw and unpolished, with brick walls and a small stage where different bands perform.

The club opened in 1991 shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union and offered local musicians a space outside state control. It quickly became a meeting point for bands that did not fit into official cultural policy.

The name references a West African drum and reflects the open spirit of the place. Visitors experience a raw space with graffiti on the walls and an audience often connected to the music scene itself.
