Barvikha

Barvikha is a residential hamlet in the Odintsovsky region, approximately 8 kilometers from Moscow, where large private villas sit among pine forests near the Moscow River. The area is characterized by expensive estates set within a natural landscape that separates it from the densely developed capital.

This place formed from the merger of two earlier villages and underwent several name changes before acquiring its current name. From the 1990s onward, it developed into a favored residence for Moscow's wealthy and experienced significant transformation during that period.

This settlement functions as an exclusive residential enclave where Moscow's affluent choose to live, reflecting a preference for privacy and nature just outside the capital. The area is easily accessible by car via the Rublevo-Uspenskoe highway and sits conveniently between Moscow and the surrounding region. Visitors should know it is a private residential zone with limited public access points throughout the settlement.

A former sanatorium dating to 1935 still exists in this area and continues to operate as a medical facility. This historical complex provides an intriguing contrast to the modern villas that developed in the region later.
