Vladychnaya Palata

Vladychnaya Palata is a Gothic structure in the Novgorod Kremlin featuring pointed arches and vaulted ceilings built in the 15th century. The palace contains a grand hall with about 30 doors and two exhibition levels displaying medieval artworks and decorative pieces.

An archbishop commissioned German architects to build this structure in 1433, and it later witnessed the end of Novgorod's independence. The building survived centuries of change in the region while remaining standing.

The palace displays jewelry, textiles, and religious objects that reveal the artistic skill of medieval craftspeople. You can see ecclesiastical garments and everyday items that reflect the lives of the clergy who once lived here.

The palace is located within the kremlin and can be reached through several entrances. It is wise to wear comfortable shoes since the exhibition includes multiple staircases and different levels.

The building contains underground chambers that were uncovered during restoration work, offering insight into medieval construction methods. These hidden rooms show how the palace was expanded and modified over the centuries.
