Monastère de Tous-les-Saints, Orthodox monastery at Rogozhskaya Gate, Moscow, Russia
The All Saints Monastery was an Orthodox convent near Rogozhskaya Gate in Moscow featuring traditional Russian Orthodox design elements. The complex included characteristic onion domes, stone walls, and burial grounds dedicated to the Old Believers community.
The monastery was founded in 1862 to commemorate peasants freed from serfdom and was closed in 1922 by Bolshevik authorities. A church on the grounds, designed by architect Pyotr Burenin, had been built between 1840 and 1843 before the monastery itself was established.
The monastery served the Old Believers community and reflected their distinctive religious practices within Orthodox tradition. The nuns and novices who lived here maintained strict spiritual routines centered on prayer and daily monastic duties.
The monastery was located near Vladimir Road and accessible through Rogozhskaya Gate. The grounds housed burial areas for Old Believers, allowing visitors to understand the community's historical and spiritual significance.
The site contained a church designed by architect Pyotr Burenin more than twenty years before the monastery was established. This earlier religious building shaped the location's architectural development long before it became a convent.
