Wish tree

The Wish Tree is a sculptural installation along the Onega Lake embankment made of metal branches where visitors attach ribbons and written messages. It sits on the waterfront promenade and draws daily visitors who come to leave their personal wishes.

The sculpture was erected in 1996 as part of a project to revitalize the Petrozavodsk waterfront into an active public space. Since its creation, it has grown into a recognized landmark along the lake's shore.

This tree sculpture serves as a gathering place where visitors from many backgrounds express their hopes through ribbons and written notes. Over the years, it has become a place where people leave traces of their personal wishes and connect with others.
