House of the Head of the Altai Mining District
House of the Head of the Altai Mining District, Mining administration building on Lenina Avenue, Barnaul, Russia.
The two-story stone building features late Classicism architecture with elaborate ornamentation and a decorative bas-relief on the tympanum of the pediment.
Constructed in 1827 by architect Ya.N. Popov for P.K. Frolov, the structure underwent reconstruction between 1923 and 1925 following fire damage in 1917.
The building embodies the architectural influences of the Russian Empire period, reflecting the importance of mining administration in the development of Barnaul.
Located at 18 Lenina Avenue, the structure currently functions as the Barnaul City Executive Office, maintaining its administrative role in the city.
The building's reconstruction expanded the original structure and modified its interior layout while preserving the classical elements of its nineteenth-century design.
